Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Political parties play a central role in shaping governance structures at both the national and local levels. In Nigeria, the influence of political parties is particularly pronounced in local government areas like Birnin Kebbi LGA, Kebbi State, where party affiliation can heavily influence political decision-making, allocation of resources, and governance priorities. Political parties serve as the primary vehicles for political participation and the organization of electoral campaigns, but their influence often extends beyond elections, shaping policy decisions and governance outcomes at the local level.
